• Criminal Background Check–
  • The DBHDS Background Investigations Unit (BIU) conducts criminal background checks for employees and supervisors in direct consumer adult care positions at DBHDS-licensed Private Providers.
     
  • The Virginia Department of Social Services Office of Background Investigations (OBI)  conducts criminal background checks for employees, contractors, students, interns and volunteers at DBHDS-licensed Children's Residential Facilities only.
     
• Child Protective Services Central Registry Search–
  Central registry searches for DBHDS-licensed providers (including Children's Residential Services) are available through the Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS). The required release form can be obtained from the DSS Web site.

• Medicaid Requirements–
  Medicaid requirements for Behavioral Health Services applicable to DBHDS-Licensed Providers can be found at the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) at: http://dmasva.dmas.virginia.gov/Content_pgs/obh-home.aspx.  Memoranda–including staffing qualifications–may be found at: http://dmasva.dmas.virginia.gov/Content_pgs/pr-memos.aspx.
