Mental Health Block Grant
The Commonwealth of Virginia is engaged in a major transformation of its behavioral healthcare system. This restructuring effort includes consumers, family members, providers, the Behavioral Health Advisory Council, and 40 community service boards working together towards a consumer-driven system of services and supports. Consumer advisory boards continue to increase. Consumer owned and operated organizations held recovery oriented conferences throughout the state in fiscal year 2008 with over 1,000 consumers in attendance. Educational programs such as WRAP, CELT and Peer Specialist Training continue to graduate more and more Virginia consumers. Family and peer to peer programs are increasing. There is clear evidence that this effort is moving us toward real system transformation.
