Mental Health Self Direction - Free Web-cast Training Series
WHAT: The Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is offering a series of 3 web cast/satellite teleconference training sessions designed to provide information on self-direction and its relationship to mental health and to explore ways to foster self-direction opportunities for persons with mental illnesses.
WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE: The training sessions are intended for mental health consumers, state and local mental health planners and program officials, providers, family members, managed care organizations, advocates and others.
Web cast: The videoconferences will be available for viewing on the internet via web cast at the following link, which is case sensitive and will be active on the dates and times listed above: http://www.ConnectLive.com/events/samhsa , or
Satellite teleconference: The training series will be broadcast by satellite across the country. Regional Partnership Planning Groups, Community Services Boards, consumer organizations, advocacy groups, etc. may wish to organize regional and/or local opportunities for people to participate via satellite videoconference at a centralized location. March 16 th 1:00-2:30 p.m.: “Self-Direction and Mental Health” This session will focus on the principles and tools of self-direction and what supports self-direction in mental health.
April 6 th 1:00-2:30 p.m.: “Models of Self Determination” This session will focus on what works in real life and how to make it happen.
May 25 th 1:00-2:30 p.m. “Self-Direction in Mental Health: from Ideas to Action” Information will be provided on funding strategies and how to implement these approaches at state and local levels.
