Where: Southeastern Virginia Training Center, 2100 Steppingstone Square, Chesapeake, VA 23320
Who: The 2009 General Assembly allocated $24 million in capital funds and tasked the Department of General Services (DGS) to resize SEVTC, a DBHDS facility, to 75 beds. W.M. Jordan Company in Newport News will build 15 new 5-bed homes at SEVTC, designed by RRMM Architects in Chesapeake.
More: The 2009 General Assembly also allocated $8.4 million in capital funds to build 18 homes in integrated community settings in the Tidewater area for SEVTC residents. The 18 community homes will have a total of 90 beds and house five individuals each. The nine local community services boards will own and operate the new homes and will contribute up to $3.5 million towards the project. SEVTC currently serves 138 individuals with intellectual disability and related developmental disabilities.
