Vicki Montgomery Named Central State Hospital Director
Richmond – Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Commissioner James W. Stewart, III announced that Central State Hospital Acting Director Vicki Montgomery has been selected to serve as the hospital’s permanent director.
“Throughout her career, Vicki has proven her leadership skills again and again,” said Commissioner Stewart. “Her extensive experience has covered a wide array of areas, including administration, fiscal, clinical and business operations, program development, leadership, maximum security forensic operations, human resources and collaboration with community partners.”
Montgomery has held numerous positions at Central State since 1999, including assistant director, acting directors of clinical administration, human resources, staff development and training, and twice as the acting facility director. Previously, she served in Central Office as the director of Quality and Risk Management and as a facility operations specialist. Prior to coming to DBHDS, Montgomery served in leadership positions in private sector companies to include the Psychiatric Institute of Richmond, Charter Westbrook Hospital and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia.
Montgomery, of Chester, earned her nursing diploma from the Johnston-Willis School of Nursing. She will begin work as the new hospital director on October 25th.
