Capitol Rally Set for Monday 10am
The annual rally of The Coalition for Virginians with Mental Disabilities will take place this Monday, January 16, 2006. Citizens and Advocates from all over the Commonwealth will gather in Richmond to demonstrate support for increased funding for services to people with mental illness, mental retardation and substance abuse services. They’ll also use the opportunity to talk about those needs with their legislators. The 10am rally will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, at 9th and East Grace Streets, directly across from the State Capitol. Immediately after the rally, participants will walk in a group to the General Assembly Building to meet with lawmakers.
Note: Parking on Richmond streets is especially difficult during times when the General Assembly is in session. Please arrive early to allow yourself time to find a parking lot or garage nearby. Satellite parking and shuttle service for people with disabilities is available at Richmond Behavioral Health Authority, 107 South 5th Street beginning at 9:30 a.m.
