College of Direct Support Grows Again
The Virginia Department of Business Assistance, Workforce Services has awarded $56,560.00 to the Department to fund the expansion of participation of nine private providers in the College of Direct Support VA Partnership Program. The nine private providers participating in this web-based training program for direct support staff encompasses the entire state, ranging from Southwest Virginia to Tidewater. Currently, the sixteen state facilities, some of the community service boards and now the private providers are participating in this system-wide partnership to train direct service staff in “state of the art”, best practices community-based disability training. It is with the College of Direct Support that we can open up new pathways to career opportunities, potential for promotion, greater career satisfaction and a culture of continuing education for Virginia’s Direct Support Professional.
