Hurricane and Flooding Preparedness Week, May 21-27, 2006
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management is partnering with the National Weather Service, the Red Cross and the Virginia Department of Transportation's Hampton Roads District for Hurricane and Flooding Preparedness Week, May 21-27, 2006. The theme for this year's campaign is "It Could Happen to You". We want people to understand that storms like Hurricane Katrina can happen here in Virginia, and that the storms can affect inland localities as well as those at the coast.
The campaign encourages people to: make an emergency communication plan, get
an emergency supplies kit, listen for information before and during an emergency
and know their evacuation routes. For more information you can check out
