March for Virginians to the Bell Tower this Weekend
The Arc of Virginia and its’ 22 affiliated chapters are ready for Saturday’s March for Virginians with Disabilities. The march begins at 10am on Mayo Island at the James River with a short rally. The parade will proceed north on 14th Street and on to the Bell Tower in Capitol Square. At the Bell Tower there will be music, speeches, a proclamation, and a roll call of the chapters. Afterwards, marchers will head back to Mayo Island for the MarcH Celebration, which includes food, music and informal activities.
The Arc of Virginia is expecting a large crowd for this year’s event, with a focus on “A Life Like Yours! A place to call home, access to healthcare, transportation, an education, a job, recreation, and a safe community.” Awareness, Resources, and Commitment are all part of the Call to Action at this second annual event.
