State Board Meets December 7
Southside Virginia Training Center in Petersburg will host the upcoming meeting of the State Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services Board. On the December 7th agenda will be presentations on regional cooperation and the jail services team from CSB executives in Region IV. The board will also take a look at the New River Valley Crisis Intervention Team, which recently received a $1.2 million federal grant to operate innovative jail diversion programs.
The Board is also scheduled to get an update from DMHMRSAS Commissioner James Reinhard on the Integrated Strategic Plan, and to tour the facilities, including the Central State Forensic Unit and Southside Virginia Training Center.
The Board is the policy making body for the Department of Mental Health, Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services. It is comprised of nine citizens from across the Commonwealth. Hunt Gunter of Richmond serves as Board Chairman. Victoria Huber Cochran of Blacksburg is Vice-Chairman.
