- Quality Improvement Specialist
Job Description: The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is seeking a highly motivated, skilled and experienced individual to identify issues of quality in community programs, collect and analyze data and produce quality improvement plans to improve community-based services. This position will be responsible for working with Regional Quality Councils and providing technical assistance and guidance to providers in the development of their quality improvement plans. The position will work with the Mortality Review Committee to coordinate the conduct of preliminary mortality reviews. A key component of this position will be to work with the Division of Quality Improvement and Development and the DBHDS Quality Improvement Committee to develop quality measures, monitor and analyze performance, and prepare written and quantitative reports based on the outcomes. The individual in this position will develop and agency policies, procedures, and plans related to quality improvement. QUALIFICATIONS: Working knowledge of quality improvement processes and demonstrated skills in developing quality improvement plans. Experience developing organizational policies and procedures. Demonstrated expertise in the development, monitoring, and analysis of quality measures and data for trend analysis. Experience in the collection, aggregation, and graphic display techniques for quality data from standardized and customized databases. Demonstrated experience in Microsoft office use including proficient use of Power Point, Excel, and Word. Demonstrated ability to prepare graphic displays of data. Experience conducting clinical case reviews and working with quality review committees. Knowledge of the DBHDS DOJ Settlement Agreement and familiarity with the Virginia DBHDS services system. Quality improvement experience in a health care or behavioral health care setting preferred. Experience with project planning is highly desirable. Must have excellent interpersonal skills in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with medical and clinical staff, community providers, consumers, government agencies, and the general public. Completion of RN program with diploma; BSN degree preferred. Current license with the Virginia State Board of Nursing.
