Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck - Emergency Services Counselor
Job Description: Under general supervision, employee is responsible for providing crisis intervention/ crisis stabilization, and case management services to those individuals at risk of hospitalization due to mental illness and/or substance abuse problems. Crisis intervention/crisis stabilization and case management services include client identification, assessment, planning, implementing and monitoring service plans, and advocacy and resource development. Employee provides after-hours crisis intervention services on a scheduled basis for clients suffering from mental illness or substance abuse problems. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the effective and efficient administration of departmental programs. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, clients, families, public, and service provides. Reports to the Sr. Emergency Services Counselor. Master’s Degree in Human Services, Social Services, Psychology, or related field, and/or certified as a Virginia Pre-screening Evaluator. PC skills required with aptitude to learn and use new computer software; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred. Must possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License with acceptable driving record. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment and annually as required by licensing authority.
Salary: $31,000-$36,000
