Southside - MH Support Specialist
Job Description: Southside Community Services Board (SCSB) seeks individual for its Behavioral Health Services Division to teach recovery, self-management skills and strategies for dealing with psychiatric symptoms to the mentally disabled in Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties with goal to promote higher levels of stability, quality of life and maximize independent living skills. Position based in Mecklenburg County, VA. Other duties: Develops individual service plans; coordinates and facilitates utilization of available community resources to ensure community stability and integration; provides in-home training in daily living skills including food preparation, personal hygiene, problem-solving, communication and financial management. Performs assessments and pre-admission/pre-discharge planning, working cooperatively with designated case managers. Maintains required, accurate casework documentation, written and in agency’s EHR system, to comply with all regulatory guidelines. Provides transportation as needed. Must be able to occasionally work some evenings and weekends to accommodate the needs of those served. Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with a minimum of one year experience providing direct care to the mentally disabled required. Preference will be given to applicants in recovery (MI and SA). Knowledge of mental illness and recovery, assessment/training techniques, treatment planning, community resources utilization, and crisis intervention for designated population required. Must maintain strict confidentiality, possess effective documentation/communication skills and valid driver’s license with safe driving record, and meet all criminal history background and drug screening requirements. Salary $33,224 with excellent benefits. Position open until filled.
