Southside - Registered Nurse, part time
Job Description: As a member of a multidisciplinary team, this part-time position's incumbent performs a dual role by providing medical and residential nursing services for intellectually disabled individuals in a Board-operated residential facility and nursing case management to recipients of mental health services in South Boston, VA. Conducts psychiatric assessments and physical health needs; provides management and administration of medication services in conjunction with the psychiatrist. Records, stores and dispenses medications and gives injections as prescribed by psychiatrist; provides family and resident consultation on medications and side effects; monitors blood levels and alerts physician of any changes and any adverse reactions to medications. Formulates quarterly medication treatment plans. Maintains necessary case records, participates in interdisciplinary team conferences. Provides direct case management services to include pre-discharge planning, service coordination, delivery, and education for individuals and their families. No weekends/night work. Registered Nurse with a valid RN license to practice in Virginia required, preferably with prior work experience with intellectually disabled and mentally ill individuals and knowledge of psychotropic medications, adverse reactions, and appropriate disposal of medical waste. Must be able to keep comprehensive/accurate records, maintain strict confidentiality, and meet all criminal history and drug screening requirements. Salary: Competitive hourly rate
