Hampton Newport News - PT Therapeutic Respite Counselor
Job Description: Responsible for performing clinical and coordination services as a part of HPR-V Virginia START Respite Team. Provides direct one to one care and services to individuals with IDD and co-occurring mental or behavioral health disorders whom are enrolled in the Region V VA START Program. The incumbent will assist the individual with meeting treatment goals, scheduled daily activities, ADLís, and providing de-escalation and intervention services for behavioral concerns. Services will be provided in the HPR-V VA START operated therapeutic respite home and/or in the individualís natural living environment. The incumbent must possess the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with the individual, their guardians, support system, and the VA START Respite Team regarding any significant events, the individualís needs and their response to the intervention. Monitors daily activities and provides documentation regarding the progress of individual who is in care. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree required in Human Services (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Counseling) and at least one (1) year experience providing clinical services to adults with serious mental illness or emotionally impaired; including some experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities. Valid Virginia Driver's License. Please submit your Department of Motor Vehicle driving record current within the last 60 days. Residential home opening October 2013 in Hampton. Temporary location in Chesapeake opened July 2013. SALARY: $17.26 Per hour. DEADLINE: Until filled.
