Hampton Newport News - Wounded Warrior Resource Specialist
Job Description: Incumbent will serve as the point of contact and provider of community resources for veterans and their families located within the HPR V Virginia Wounded Warrior Program Region to include veterans who may be incarcerated in correctional facilities. The HPR V Wounded Warrior Program (VWWP) is designed to effectively facilitate and promote support for Virginia veterans and members of the Virginia National Guard and Reserves not in active federal service. The primary purpose of the resource specialist is to provide timely assessment, resource linkage, and supportive services for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and Post traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and related injuries resulting from service in combat areas to the identified target population in HPR V. Resource Specialists will assist veterans by identifying, developing, and linking to needed resources, assisting veterans in accessing their entitlements, advocacy, outreach, education, and marketing the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program.. Specialists will also maintain positive working relationships with HPR V Virginia Wounded Warrior Program contracted vendors. Incumbent will be an employee of the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, but will serve the nine HPR V CSBs, as well. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelorís degree in Human Services with one (1) year experience in case management services. Knowledge of military culture required. Valid Driverís License.
