- ASSESSMENT & INTAKE SUPERVISOR (Mental Health Supervisor)
Job Description: This is a professional position in Arlington County's Behavioral Healthcare Division in the Department of Human Services. This supervisor is responsible for providing management and leadership for a team of mental health and substance abuse professionals, as well as financial/business staff, in the newly formed Assessment and Intake Unit of the Division. The unit comprises "front door" functions such as the initial screening assessment and evaluation, crisis intervention, information about services, scheduled as well as walk in evaluation appointments, short term case management services for some individuals, financial and business functions and referrals to the most appropriate service. The Assessment and Intake Unit is one of five clinical units in the Division. Taken together, these units comprise the Division's adult mental health and substance abuse services. Initially, the supervisor of the Assessment and Intake unit will report to the Behavioral Healthcare Division Chief and will be a member of the senior level management team. Specific duties include: • Providing clinical supervision and day-to-day guidance for clinical and financial business staff; • Ensuring effective and efficient (same day) access to services by closely monitoring daily access to the mental health and substance abuse programs. Ensuring smooth transition to the treatment teams by working with supervisors to make adjustments to clinician schedules and client flow; • Selecting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and disciplining employees as warranted; • Developing procedures and service protocols to enhance service delivery; • Developing, implementing and monitoring team performance measures including a mission for the program, how much work is done, how well it's done and whether anyone is better off because of the services received; • Recommending and implementing policies and procedures for the program; • Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies; • Ensuring compliance with clinical documentation standards and licensure requirements; • Providing back up to the clinical staff on completing intakes as needed; and • Participating in departmental and community-wide committees or task forces as assigned. The ideal candidate has strong clinical and management skills, superior interpersonal skills, strong experience and knowledge of the substance abuse disorders and serious mental illness, knowledge of best practices, strong financial/business knowledge and experience and the ability to multi-task and made sound clinical and business decisions Requires a Master's degree in a clinical discipline such as Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or another directly related clinical discipline, which required a clinical practicum involving diagnostic, treatment, and case management services, plus three years of post-Master's degree experience in providing direct clinical social work or clinical mental health/substance abuse services. The above experience must include at least one year coordinating/administering services.
Salary: $58,531.20 - $106,017.60
