Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck - EMERGENCY SERVICES COUNSELOR
Job Description: Under general supervision, employee is responsible for providing crisis intervention/crisis stabilization, and case management services to those individuals at risk of hospitalization due to mental illness and/or substance abuse problems. Crisis intervention/crisis stabilization, and case management services include client identification, assessment, planning, implementing and monitoring service plans, and advocacy and resource development. Employee provides after-hours and weekend crisis intervention services on a scheduled basis for clients suffering from mental illness or substance abuse problems. Employee must exercise considerable initiative and judgment in the effective and efficient administration of departmental programs. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, clients, families, public, and service providers. Reports the the Sr. Emergency Services Counselor. Qualifications Required: Masters in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology and QMHP. Current certification or eligible for certification as a "Pre Screening" and "Pre Admissions" evaluator within 6 months of hire.
