Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare - Counselor I Position#: Relief

Job Description: Adult Mental Retardation Services, Community Training Services. GRADE:112 STATUS:Relief SHIFT:As needed basis DUTIES: Provides direct services (independent living skills training) to persons with Mental Retardation: implementation and monitoring of training programs developed to meet individual consumers needs. Provide consumers with supervision and transportation. Assist consumers with meal preparation, toileting, mobility, and communication. QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalency required. Through training, and/or experience must demonstrate basic knowledge of mental retardation concepts, mental illness, behavior management; good skills in organization, written and oral communications, basic math, interpersonal relations. Must be able to physically manage aggressive and medically challenged individuals. Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license with a safe driving record (no serious or multiple violations). Candidates who are offered a position are required to provide fingerprints and personal information for a criminal history check as a condition of employment. APPLICANTS MUST DEMONSTRATE ON THE APPLICATION EVIDENCE OF THE LISTED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS AS ACQUIRED THROUGH TRAINING AND/ OR EXPERIENCE.
