Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare - Counselor I Position#: Relief

Job Description: AFS/MRS, Community Living. GRADE:112 STATUS: Full-Time DUTIES: Position works in a variety of community residential settings on an as needed basis providing direct care services for adult consumers with developmental disabilities and/or serious mental illnesses to promote community inclusion and independence. Works with treatment team, family members and community resources as indicated in the ISPs to ensure appropriate delivery of services. Position may also provide residential, day support, respite, personal assistance and/or crisis stabilization services. Provides direct training and/or assistance with all activities of daily living, money management, transportation, medication administration, behavioral supports and life skills training. Works with Community Living Coordinators and Central Scheduling to assure adequate staff coverage at residential sites. Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Through training, education and/or experience applicant should demonstrate knowledge of human care giving practices and resources available within the community. Knowledge of multiple disabilities – MH/DD, MH/SA, MH/DD/SA. Knowledge of Medicaid guidelines as they pertain to Waiver, State Plan and Clinic Options preferred. Basic knowledge of human rights, ethical and legal concerns relating to provision of residential and day support services required. Effective verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Ability to exhibit initiative, resourcefulness and to work as part of a team as well as independently. APPLICANTS MUST DEMONSTRATE ON THE APPLICATION EVIDENCE OF THE LISTED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS AS ACQUIRED THROUGTH TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE. A valid Virginia driver’s license with a safe driving record required. Candidates who are offered a position are required to provide fingerprints and personal information for a criminal history check as a condition of employment.

Salary: $10.85/hour
