Richmond Behavioral Health Authority - Regional Jail Team Clinician

Job Description: The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking a Regional Jail Team Clinician. The incumbent will be responsible for the provision of counseling services to individuals and groups who are residing in a local or regional jail or who are residing in a psychiatric hospital but have current or pending legal charges. Provides forensic and other mental health and substance abuse assessment services as required. Provides treatment services to inmates on a scheduled and urgent basis, including restoration to competency, medication management and psychotherapy in the jail setting. Facilitates admission to psychiatric hospitalization when required by inmate’s mental health status. Monitors inmates returned to the jail from hospital settings following a restoration to competency. Maintains thorough documentation of activities including clinical interventions, case management, crisis intervention and medical records, according to agency standards. Reports reimbursement and productivity statistics. Reports to the Psychologist/team leader for the Region IV Jail Team. Requirements: Comprehensive knowledge of forensic psychology principles and practice and forensic law. Knowledge of psychotropic medications to include their effects and side effects. Excellent knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders. Qualifications: Master’s degree in social work, professional counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology or related field. Virginia license or license eligible in a behavioral health discipline. Completed or eligible to complete within three months, the forensic evaluation training approved by the Commissioner of DMHMRSAS. Three years experience in a clinical setting required with forensic experience. Must be qualified to be impaneled as a Medicaid service provider. Valid Virginia driver’s license is required.

Salary: $42,348.00 - $57,169.00
