Central State Hospital - Forensic Psychiatrist

Central State Hospital is seeking psychiatrists with expertise in Forensic Psychiatry to practice in the Commonwealth's only secure Forensic Treatment Program. For those interested in teaching, this unit is an academic site for medical students, psychiatric residents and forensic psychiatry fellows affiliated with the Medical College of Virginia (MCV). Opportunity exists for academic affiliation with MCV. Duties include independently providing clinical evaluations, guiding and directing interdisciplinary treatment teams, formulating and implementing individualized treatment plans, assessing patient progress, coordinating activities and services with other disciplines to ensure appropriate patient treatment and participating in the training and professional development of other staff physicians. Applicants must be licensed or eligible for licensing by the Virginia Board of Medicine. Salary is negotiable commensurate with background and experience. Central State Hospital - Registered Nurses

Eastern State Hospital - Registered Nurses

Eastern State Hospital is currently seeking staff nurses to work in psychiatric, medical/surgical, and geropsychiatric inpatient programs. Nursing experience related to the area of interest in mental health, forensic mental health, or mental retardation fields is desirable. Licensing or eligible for licensing as a Registered Nurse in Virginia is required.

Southside Virginia Training Center - Licensed Practical Nurses

Southside Virginia Training Center, a residential facility located near Petersburg, is recruiting for Licensed Practical Nurses. SVTC serves approximately 415 individuals with severe and profound mental retardation. Services,provided by caring employees, are client centered, highly individualized and functional, in an environment that nurtures growth and development.

These positions will be responsible for providing quality-nursing care to promote optimum health and disease prevention. Administering and documenting prescribed medications, and treatments; transcribing and implementing physicians' orders accurately; observing clients for signs and symptoms of illness and injury; documenting all pertinent information pertaining to the health care of the clients; initiating communication with the physician, RN, and other team members, etc.

REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an approved school of Practical Nursing; knowledge of basic nursing skills to include administering and documenting prescribed medications and treatments; good interpersonal/communication skills. VA Practical/Nursing License, and or eligible for the licensure exam in Virginia which authorizes the candidate to practice in Virginia for a period not to exceed 90 days between completion of the nursing education program and the results of the first licensing examination. Previous experience in basic nursing is strongly preferred.

SVTC serves approximately 415 individuals with severe and profound mental retardation. Services,provided by caring employees, are client centered, highly individualized and functional, in an environment that nurtures growth and development.

These positions will supervise health care to the severely and profoundly mentally retarded/developmentally disabled. Coordinate medical services relative to health care including planning/implementation/evaluation of habilitative programs; supervise licensed practical nurses; conduct in-service training to unit staff.

Requirements: Knowledge of nursing standards. Ability to detect signs/symptoms of illness and dysfunction; ability to delegate; skills in the administration of chart medication, treatments and procedures; ability to conduct client assessment and develop care plans; skill in supervising and evaluating nursing care; ability to audit and monitor medical records. Good oral/written communication skills. Training on day shift. Available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays required. Shift differential available for night and evening. VA RN License (verification required), and or eligible for the licensure exam in Virginia which authorizes the candidate to practice in Virginia for a period of not to exceed 90 days between completion of the nursing education program and the results of the first licensing examination.

Region 19 - Residential Specialist

District 19 Community Services Board is seeking part-time relief Residential Specialists responsible for providing 24-hour residential services to adults with mental retardation. Incumbents will provide support and supervision to assist individuals with skills training, community integration, medication management and problem solving. Successful applicants must have: high school diploma or equivalent; mental retardation experience; valid VA Driver's License with acceptable driving record; and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prefer candidates with credits towards an Associate's or BA/BS degree in Human Services or related field, and demonstrated experience working in a residential setting, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Starting hourly rate commensurate with experience and training.

Region 19 - Mental Health Professional 

District 19 Community Services Board is seeking professionals for the Adult and Adolescent Day Programs based in various sites in the D19 catchment area, and Petersburg school system. Essential duties for this position include: working with a team of Qualified Mental Health Professionals; assisting seriously mentally ill adolescents and adults; skill building activities and psycho education through leading and co-leading groups; community integration with social activities; and van transportation. Successful applicant must have: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field OR four years experience; experience in mental health setting working with disabled clients; valid VA Driver's License with acceptable driving record; availability to work flexible schedule between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 4:00p.m. to include occasional weekends, as needed. Prefer excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. This position is hourly, as needed; no benefits. Starting hourly rate is $13.15 per hour.
